The First Annual Barkitecture
was a howling success! The doghouses alone raised over $20,000, and
with the sponsors, ticket sales and silent auction bids, we raised a
grand total of $30,595. All of us at Hull
Seaside Animal Rescue are astounded at this first-year event's
success, but it's no surprise these stunning abodes caught
the attention of bonefide bidders! Take a look!

We'd
like to thank everyone who generously supported Barkitecture. You will
help Hull Seaside Animal Rescue continue its work to provide shelter
to homeless animals in Cohasset, Hingham and Hull, and continue with
our catch and release spay program for ferals. But, before we go any
further, there were a few stars of the day who simply cannot go unmentioned.
- Rich
McKee of McKee's Moving & Storage, not
only provided HSAR with a place to store the doghouses and have a
photo shoot, but he and his crew donated countless hours moving these
designer digs to and from the event. They then stayed around to help
"show" the doghouses during the auction. They still continue
to work, helping all the happy new owners of the doghouses load and
move the doghouses.
- Roberts
Dinion Architects, Inc. and Ken Vona Construction whose
"Doghouse-Birdhouse-Lighthouse" was such a hit with the
audience that they offered to construct three more of these beauties,
and donate each $2,000 winning bid to HSAR!
- Strekalovsky
Hoit Raymond's Roger and Nancy Hoit who
not only designed and built 'Residence Built for Mr. Harley Davidson,"
but bought it back for a whopping $1,600, and then went on to offer
to build another, reaping yet a second bid of $1,600.
- David
Lamb of David Lamb Photography, for not only traveling from
New York and photographing the doghouses before the event, but also
buying one and with his wife Mary, also placing numerous winning bids
on silent auction items.
- Winning bidders
such as Deborah Leggat and Lindsey Cyr each of whom
bought TWO doghouses, and then there's Stephanie Lewis, who
bought three! Hats off to these generous animal lovers!
All the architects
whose exquisite doghouses made Barkitecture 2004 such a success:
Thanks to the photography
or Anne Francis,
who captured the event on film for posterity.
